This Privacy Policy explains how ENS Korea ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data in connection with the mobile app Korea Pick (Bundle ID: com.enskorea.koreapick) on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Korea Pick helps visitors to Korea save and share place collections. Most of your data stays on your device; data is sent to our servers only when you choose to publish a collection or upload a photo.

1. Who we are

Korea Pick is operated by ENS Korea, an indie development team based in the Republic of Korea. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What data we collect

2.1 Stored only on your device (not transmitted to us)

• Local collections — places and notes you keep private on your device
• App settings — UI language preference
• Anonymous device ID — a random identifier used as your author ID and recovery code (stored in AsyncStorage)
• Display nickname — the name shown when you publish (default: "Traveler")

We do not operate a traditional login account. Your device ID is not a password, but anyone who knows it can restore that identity on another device using the in-app recovery feature.

2.2 Data you choose to send to our servers

When you publish a collection to the Discover feed, we store on Cloudflare (Workers, D1 database, and R2 object storage):

• Your device ID (author_id) and nickname (author_name)
• Collection title, description, category, region, and curation tags
• Place details: name, notes, address, phone, map links, coordinates (latitude/longitude), category, source URL, and photo URLs
• Publication and update timestamps

Published collections are visible to other app users unless hidden by moderation.

2.3 Photos you upload

If you add a photo to a place, the app compresses it on your device and uploads it to our server. We store the image in Cloudflare R2 and save a public URL linked to that place. Do not upload photos containing faces or personal information you do not wish to share.

2.4 Device permissions (used only when you trigger the feature)

• Location (while in use) — to show nearby places and your position on the map
• Camera — to scan menus and take photos for collections
• Photo library — to pick images for collections; save screenshots for offline use

We do not collect location in the background or track your movement over time.

2.5 Reports and moderation

If you report a public collection, we store the collection ID, an optional reason, and a timestamp. We use this to review content and may hide collections that violate our policies.

2.6 What we do not collect

• We do not require email, phone number, or social login to use the app
• We do not collect your contacts, calendar, or microphone audio
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties

3. How we use your data

• Provide core app features: local collections, maps, place search, and publishing
• Display public collections in Discover, detail views, and the map
• Identify the author of published content (device ID + nickname)
• Let you restore your author identity on a new device via recovery code
• Review reports and enforce content policies
• Improve reliability and fix errors

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland:

• Consent — location, camera, and photo library access (via system permission dialogs); publishing user-generated content
• Contract / service delivery — processing needed to provide features you request (e.g., publishing a collection)
• Legitimate interest — moderation, abuse prevention, and keeping the service secure

5. Third-party services

• Cloudflare (Workers, D1, R2) — hosts published collections and uploaded photos. Privacy Policy
• Kakao Local Search API — when configured, the app sends place name queries from your device to Kakao to resolve coordinates. Kakao Privacy
• Google Maps — opening external map links (handled by Google when you leave the app)
• Apple App Store / Google Play — if you purchase Korea Pick Pass in the future, payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google; we do not receive or store your card details

6. International transfers

Our backend runs on Cloudflare's global network. Data you publish may be processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States. Cloudflare uses appropriate safeguards as described in its privacy policy.

7. Data retention

• On-device data — until you uninstall the app or clear app data
• Published collections and photos — until you delete them in the app (author-only) or we remove them for policy violations
• Reports — retained as long as needed for moderation, then archived or deleted

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

For data stored only on your device, uninstalling the app or clearing app data deletes it. For published content, delete your collection in the app or email us at sugar729729@gmail.com with your device ID and the collection title. We will respond within 30 days.

Korea residents may contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (privacy.go.kr, dial 182 without area code).

9. Children's privacy

Korea Pick is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has published content, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

10. Security

Communication with our servers uses HTTPS. Author-only actions (delete, hide) require your device ID. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we follow industry-standard practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top will be updated. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app or on this page.
